Hmm.  The CSA allows EPA to look for another 10 chemicals, and in the current list, 5 must have the data EPA requires done in 5 years.

In 2008, REACH registered >143,000 chemicals that manufacturers proposed to be used in the E.U.

Also in 2008, REACH identified >30,000 high production volume chemicals (>1000 tons/year) with no data.  REACH required manufacturers to provide the 10 GHS tests for toxicity data by 2018 or they can't be in products sold in the E.U. (or any of the other countries that have signed on to REACH)

IARC has found enough data to evaluate <1000 chemicals for cancer effects.

CAS - CHEMCATS says there are 32,000,000 individually registered chemicals available for catalog purchase right now.

Does anyone see a problem with our CSA approach?  I figure it isn't even worth discussing.  We are defending ourselves against a charging rhino with a pea shooter.

Our only hope is that REACH, now that it won't be disabled by the TTIP, will carry through on their threat to bar products made with the 30,000 HPV and cause US manufactures to scramble they way REACH forced OSHA institute the GHS labels and SDSs.

You didn't think we did GHS willing, did you?

EPA announces a Public Meeting on Collecting Chemical Use Information

On February 14th, EPA will hold a public meeting to receive public input and information on uses and conditions of use for the initial ten chemicals to be evaluated under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), as amended by the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act. Information on uses and the conditions of use will assist EPA in identifying potential exposure scenarios for the ten chemicals.

The meeting will be held on February 14, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Polaris Room, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20004.

To participate, please register online: https://tscachemicaluse.eventbrite.com The meeting will also be available by remote access for registered participants. EPA has also established public dockets for those who wish to submit information. Written comments and materials will also be accepted and should be submitted before March 1, 2017.

For additional information, including links to the public dockets, please visit:
