I just wanted to give everyone heads up that we finally got around to releasing our hypertext-enhanced version of
OSHA Instruction, Directive Number CPL 02-02-079,
Inspection Procedures for the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS 2012) which was issued on July 9, 2015.
The original document is available at
https://www.osha.gov/OshDoc/Directive_pdf/CPL_02-02-079.pdf and is only available in PDF format that is difficult to follow through its 124 pages particularly given the multitude of standards references it contains. We've taken that document and enriched it with deep text hyperlinks that follow every paragraph and standard reference within the CPL, the HCS and both their appendices, as well as external references and anything in our 500+ term (M)SDS HyperGlossary.
The index page for both that and our enhanced version of HCS 2012 is at
http://www.ilpi..com/msds/osha/ Select any section of the CPL, HCS or Appendices to see these in action - for example,
http://www.ilpi.com/msds/osha/cpl0202079.html#hazwoper If you're HTML savvy, you can link to just about any section of CPL or HCS by appending the anchor text after the .html as you see in the URL I just listed.
The result is a much more readable and understandable version of the inspection playbook that OSHA CSHO's use when inspecting a workplace and when deciding when to issue a citation. (Yeah there are some hopefully unobtrusive ads, but tastefully done, I hope).
Now that we have the appropriate references deep tagged we have also started updating entries in the MSDS FAQ and HyperGlossary - for example some new and revised entries:
And we've kept the deprecated HCS 1994 on our site as well:
That said, there is still a lot of updating to old terms (acute toxicity etc.) as well as numerous FAQ entries and we have about 4 dozen other new terms (STOT, bridging principles, signal words etc.) to add, but these will be coming in the next few weeks, and then we'll start bringing our archive of OSHA HazCom interpretation letters up to date as well.
Best wishes,
Rob Toreki
