A truck with a load of epoxy crashed into a wall of a house on Vi14?u Street in Salacgrva on Wednesday November 3 morning, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) said.
The accident occurred at 5:23 in the morning. The driver needed assistance to exit the vehicle. Firefighters freed him with the help of hydraulic tools and handed him over to the Emergency Medical Service (NMPD).
The homeowner had evacuated from the building himself.
The site is cordoned off. As the Salacgrva administration points out, the substance is not toxic but emits a strong smell, so if the smell bothers residents, they can be evacuated to the Salacgrva school dorms.
Meanwhile, Latvian State Roads warned drivers that traffic may be disrupted near the scene of the accident. At the site of the event, traffic is regulated by the State Police, while the VUGD is performing removal of the substance.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) ?? Lawsuits filed by North Carolina??s attorney general against 14 manufacturers of a fire suppressant claim the makers caused a public nuisance, created a design defect, failed to warn their customers and fraudulently transferred corporate assets to shield their profits, a news release said Thursday.
Attorney General Josh Stein filed four lawsuits which named 3M, Corteva, and DuPont, among others. In the lawsuit, Stein is asking the court to require the manufacturers to pay for investigations to determine the extent of the damage, clean up the damage, replace water treatment systems and wells, restore damaged natural resources and to monitor water quality.
??These companies made and sold firefighting foam with dangerous forever chemicals to our firefighters, military servicemembers, and first responders, long after they knew or should have known how harmful this foam was,?? Stein said in the news release. ??As a result, forever chemicals have seeped into our soil and groundwater and put people??s health at risk ?? all so these chemical companies could line their pockets. It??s wrong.??

FUEL SPILL CLOSES HIGHWAY 200

REENOUGH ?? Highway 200 was closed for more than six hours Saturday, Oct. 30 due to a fuel spill that covered all three lanes just past Sunset Hill Road at the top of Greenough Hill. Greenough-Potomac Volunteer Fire Department (GPVFD) and Missoula Rural Fire Department's Hazmat Team ran traffic control. Once the road was sanded, Highway 200 was opeGned around 10:30 p.m. As of Monday evening, Nov. 1, Montana Department of Transportation is still reporting loose gravel with reduced speeds of 35 mile per hour between mile markers 24 ?? 25.
GPVFD Fire Chief Ryan Hall said they were paged out around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon for a hazmat response on Highway 200. When he arrived, traffic was driving through the fuel slick. It had been spread shoulder-to-shoulder across Highway 200 in all three driving lanes stretching approximately 250 yards in one lane and 450 yards in the other.
Hall explained a pickup towing a trailer with a 500-gallon fuel tank was carrying 400-450 gallons of jet fuel. The back of the tank cracked and fell off in one piece.
"That fuel gushed onto the highway," Hall said adding the cause is under investigation. "There were no injuries."

FIRE HITS MANILA POLICE CRIME LAB ?? MANILA BULLETIN

A fire hit the Manila Police District Headquarters?? (MPDHQ) Crime Laboratory Office along U.N. Avenue on Thursday, Nov. 4.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire, which started at 9:45 a.m., was a result of chemical toluene that sparked and ignited during the inventory taking of evidence.
MPDHQ personnel present at the scene immediately attempted to subdue the blaze with fire extinguishers.
Several fire fighters led by Fire Inspector Luke Challongen also rushed to the scene.
The fire was declared under control at 10:15 a.m.
The report also said that after the flame had been controlled, smoke was still emanating from the hazardous materials inside the crime laboratory.

TUFTS REFRIGERATOR FIRE CLOSES TESTING CENTER AMID HAZMAT CONCERNS

Emerson??s testing center was abruptly shuttered Tuesday afternoon after a fire forced the evacuation of the surrounding Tufts Medical Center complex, fire officials said.
Firefighters were sent to Tufts?? Biomedical Research and Public Health Building at 136 Harrison Ave. at 3:32 p.m. after an ??unknown haze?? was reported on the seventh floor of the building, the Boston Fire Department wrote on Twitter. Responders treated the event as a potential Level 2 hazmat situation, indicating the potential of ??irritating, corrosive or flammable vapors.??
Officials later determined that the haze was caused by a fire in a walk-in refrigerator.
No illnesses or injuries were immediately reported due to the fire, the department said.
Firefighters sealed the refrigerator and, after running tests on the air quality, confirmed that no dangerous chemicals were present, the department said. As of 4:53 p.m., a Hazmat specialist was awaiting an environmental cleanup crew at the scene.

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - Fire crews responded to a chemical spill at the Town Pump by the airport in Great Falls Monday around 10:30 p.m.
Gore Hill Fire Rescue Chief John Schmiedeke tells us a truck was carrying Thionyl Chloride, which is equivalent to rat poison.
Crews shut down part of Thirty-first Street SW and part of the gas station until 10:45 a.m.
Gore Hill Fire Rescue requested help from Great Falls Fire Rescue, Montana Air National Guard and more equipment from Helena.
Schmiedeke says there is no threat to the community at this time, and crews have cleaned up most of the toxic chemical and will continue cleanup the remainder of the Tuesday. According to Schmiedeke, the toxicity has cleared overnight.
