UNITY, Wis. (WSAW) -- The Clark County Sheriff‰??s Department says they responded to the report of incident involving bulk dry fertilizer containing ammonium nitrate Tuesday morning at ProVision Partners in Unity.
It was reported around 7:30 a.m. As a precaution, residents in the village were notified to evacuate the area.
The caller reported hearing a noise and observing smoke coming from the top of an elevator being used to offload bulk, dry fertilizer from a railroad car and into a semi-trailer.

Police are investigating an oxygen tank rupture at College Street and Elizabeth Street.
Officials say they received a call about a possible chemical spill just before 2:30 p.m.
White smoke could be seen coming from a large 13,000 gallon oxygen tank.
A powder substance spilled from the tank onto the ground in the surrounding area.
Toronto fire officials tell CP24 they believe the substance is non-toxic perlite that is used to insulate oxygen tanks.
‰??There‰??s an insolation material called perlite that released," said District Fire Chief Bill Bygrave. "It‰??s not toxic but it is an irritant. So it released up into the air, it‰??s like a powder. And we had to wet it down.‰??

ALTIVIA ACQUIRES KMCO CROSBY FACILITY NEAR HOUSTON

The site of a 2019 chemical fire in Crosby, northeast of Houston, has been acquired.
Altivia Oxide Chemicals LLC, an affiliate of Houston-based Altivia, acquired KMCO and its chemical ethoxylation manufacturing assets in Crosby, according to a June 1 press release.
The facility spans 160 acres and includes 31 reaction and distillation trains with capacity for ethylene and propylene oxide reactions plus a variety of organic reactions including polymerization, neutralization and condensation, the press release states. It can produce surfactants, lubricant additives, fuel additives and various ethoxylation- and propoxylation-based intermediates, which serve the coatings, automotive, fuels and lubricants, and surfactant industries.
Altivia plans to start production in two new oxide reactors at the site by the end of 2020 and will invest $25 million to upgrade process safety and control systems, per the release.

VADODARA/ ANAND: A major fire broke out in a laboratory of Vallabh Vidyanagar-based Sardar Patel University (SPU) at Bakrol campus on Monday morning.
Though there was no loss of live or injuries, worth at least Rs 10 crore is feared as the entire facility was gutted. This laboratory of Department of Bioscience on Bakrol-Vadtal Road is the biggest of the university
According to officials, the fire started at around 9.30am on Monday, when Ami Patel, a PhD student, opened the laboratory after two months of lockdown. All the laboratories and classrooms at the campus were closed since the third week of March.
Patel could sense the heat after opening the doors of the laboratory, but she ignored it assuming it to be trapped heat inside the locked up rooms. She turned on the electric supply and switched on fans and lights along with water purifier.
‰??It was then that she noticed an electric spark and sudden fire after which she called for help,‰?? said SPU vice-chancellor professor Shirish Kulkarni.
Hearing Patel‰??s cries, non-teaching staff members immediately informed the fire brigade. But till then all major equipment, chemicals, computers, files, furniture among other items inside the laboratory caught fire while a gas cylinder also blasted.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Multiple lanes are closed on Interstate 75 due to a truck fire.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, a truck containing chemicals caught fire between mile markers 125 and 126 on I-75.
ACSO said both northbound and southbound lanes are closed at this time. The accident is expected to be cleared by 8:00 p.m. according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

NO INJURIES AFTER AMMONIA LEAK AT BRAMPTON MAPLE LODGE FARMS PLANT

No injuries were reported after an ammonia leak forced the evacuation of the Maple Lodge Farms plant, Brampton Fire Services said Sunday.
Emergency crews were called to the facility on Winston Churchill Boulevard, north of Steeles Avenue West, for a report of a chemical leak at around 8:16 a.m.
Police and fire officials said they asked people in the surrounding area to stay indoors for a time as emergency crews conducted an investigation.
That request, which fire officials said was precautionary only, was lifted at 2 p.m.
Acting Platoon Chief David van Houten said crews are working to clear the plant of the ammonia gas. He said they expect to clear the scene by Sunday evening.
It appears the leak was caused when a worker doing maintenance work inserted a screw into a pipe that was carrying the gas, he said.

FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO POSSIBLE CHEMICAL EXPOSURE AT GOODLEAF FARM

On Sunday May 31, 2020 at 13:42 hours, the Guelph Fire Department responded to a report of a female having respiratory issues due to a possible chemical exposure at 35 Cooper Drive, Goodleaf Farms. Firefighters arrived at the scene with Guelph Wellington Paramedic Service.
On arrival, there were three employees from Goodleaf Farms in front of the building. They were complaining of headaches, and respiratory issues. Firefighters immediately had all employees evacuate the building while paramedics attended to the medical needs of the three staff affected.
The Guelph Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit attended and firefighters entered the building taking various air quality readings and samples. The results from this were inconclusive. The three staff members that were examined by paramedics all declined to be assessed at the Guelph General Hospital. The Ministry of Labour were contacted by Guelph Fire Dispatch and attended the scene to further investigate the cause.
