Anne,

That is a great suggestion. Travel budgets have been reduced everywhere, and many of us can=E2=80™t attend the workshops and/or have to be picky about how to spend our resources. The online access at a reduced rate would alleviate some of the financial burden. I used to pay out of pocket for my professional development, hotel, travel, meal expenses, etc., and my employer would pay me for my time off from work. I used to be able to deduct some of these expenses on my tax returns but as many many of you know this is no longer an option. I vote for DCHAS-L recorded sessions at a reduced fee.

I second your observations and requests.  Many smaller institutions have limited budgets and/or time to attend many of the conferences, but we would also like to continue updating our knowledge and abilities.  Live streamed or recordings of the sessions would be a great help.

Thank you for bringing this up Anne.

HI

I would like to offer a suggestion-please permit this workshop, and others in the future to be lived streamed so those of us who cannot go the Philadelphia (may register and pay for it) still be able to attend.

Many colleges are facing some financial challenges and are cutting back on travel-so offering it on line would be very helpful.

If you cannot live stream then record it and offer it to the individuals who could not attend for a fee.

Anything we can do to make workshop available through LMS systems is very helpful to us who do not have the resources to support travel, need to balance work and family life. In the environmental, occupational health, and safety professions we are constantly pulled in so many directions-having LMS supported training available for us is a wonderful resource. Using LMS system may also increase the availability for individuals to step up to speak and present at the workshops as they would not have to travel to the meeting.

Thanks for reading this,

Best Regards,

Anne
