I think the number of people who don't attend conventions due to financial reasons is underestimated. I personally can't afford to attend conventions without support from my private employer. My employer is more likely to pay for web-based
training than for in-person training due to the added cost of travel expenses.
In my experience, training providers charge the same amount for in-person and web-based training.

I would expect to pay the same fee for live-streaming as if I were attending in person. Just trying to save the time and expense of organizing the trip...
My 2 cents..

Obviously this is a good idea, but doesn't solve our problem of meeting minimum requirements unless the "off-site" registrations are numerous. Adding the additional cost of live-streaming (actually thousands of dollars when you consider the convention charges for internet & video) will significantly increase costs and therefore the number of minimum attendees. Our main problem is people waiting until the last minute to register; we must cancel rooms at least two weeks in advance or we'll be charged for empty rooms.
That said, we can certainly consider live-streaming or webcast type presentations when we can meet the financial requirementsÉ what would people be willing to pay to watch live-streaming of a presentation?

HI
I would like to offer a suggestionÑplease permit this workshop, and others in the future to be lived streamed so those of us who cannot go the Philadelphia (may register and pay for it) still be able to attend.
Many colleges are facing some financial challenges and are cutting back on travelÑso offering it on line would be very helpful.
If you cannot live stream then record it and offer it to the individuals who could not attend for a fee.
Anything we can do to make workshop available through LMS systems is very helpful to us who do not have the resources to support travel, need to balance work and family life. In the environmental, occupational health, and safety professions we are constantly pulled in so many directionsÑhaving LMS supported training available for us is a wonderful resource. Using LMS system may also increase the availability for individuals to step up to speak and present at the workshops as they would not have to travel to the meeting.
Thanks for reading this,
Best Regards,
Anne
