JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) - First responders, the Georgia Department of Transportation and many others on the scene of a train derailment in Bartow, Ga.
"Finally got a GSP helicopter in here and they flew over the scene and there's crews down there now. It appears that they have 6 train cars that have left the track," said Mayor Robert Morris.
The calls came in close to 8:30 p.m. on January 6th. The derailment caused Hydrogen Peroxide to be released into the air. Those who live in Bartow were told to evacuate immediately.
Mayor Morris said, "Stay out until we tell you to come back. This is going to be an on-going event and no telling how long it's going to last."
At 2:00 a.m. on January 7th, Jefferson County EMA Director Jim Anderson confirmed the evacuation radius of Bartow shrunk from seven miles to three.

The school education department has taken note of the non-submission of requisite certificates related to lab chemical safety, building safety, fire and emergency along with a no objection certificate (NoC) from the traffic department by the Directorates of School Education of Kashmir and Jammu while recommending cases of recognition and extension of private institutes.
The department grants recognition and extension to private educational institutes of J&K on the basis of affiliation by the J&K Board of School Education viz-a-viz recommendations of the Director, School Education, Kashmir/Jammu. There are more than 5,000 private educational institutions in the state. The strength of private schools in Jammu division is around 2,726.
Sources said it was observed that the head of departments, while recommending the cases of private schools, were not submitting the requisite certificates, which caused a delay in the disposal of such cases. They said even an NOC from the traffic department was not being submitted while recommending the cases.
The sources said the main reason behind the non-submission of requisite certificates by the directorate was incomplete information provided by the management of private schools.

Importance of safety
We must also communicate the importance of safety‰??the newest ACS core value‰??in academia, industry, and government laboratories and in chemical demonstrations and outreach activities. In 2018, ACS president Peter K. Dorhout emphasized laboratory safety, and I fully support that continuing effort. My 2019 focus is on safety writ large: safety in the environment, including recovery after disasters such as fires, hurricanes, and floods. Chemistry can help in the cleanup. And anywhere there‰??s a natural disaster there are always safety issues. I am happy to be working with the ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety and other sponsoring divisions on national meeting programming on the following topics:
‰?ü Bridging the (safety) gap between academia and industry
‰?ü Chemical safety issues in disaster recovery
‰?ü Safety and the environment: Chemistry‰??s impact on water

On December 6, Oswestry Waste Paper, which is run by Recycling UK, was shut down for 24 hours with five staff members kept at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital overnight.
It was happened after a chemical that was inside a bail of paper became airborne.
The Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency are still investigating, but it has been revealed the chemical originated in the recycling system in Brazil.
Neil Clarke, managing director of Recycling UK Ltd said: ‰??The incident was caused by a package of chemicals which was accidentally sent to us in recycled material by one of our suppliers.
‰??The chemicals were tracked back to Brazil.
‰??The issue is in the hands of the HSE and the Environmental Agency now, so they will now be looking at how the package was able to get into the country and on to our premises.

An affidavit filed in Cheshire County Superior Court provides additional details in the case of a Winchester man accused of discharging a shotgun that police say ignited a fire at the Stateline Fireworks store in town in September.
Joseph E. Champagne, 75, was arrested month on several charges in connection with the incident. Among other information included in the affidavit by Winchester police Detective Michael Carrier is Champagne‰??s contention that the gun fired when he tripped over the edge of a carpet.
Winchester firefighters were called to Stateline Fireworks at 151 Keene Road (Route 10) at about 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 in response to a fire alarm. The two-alarm fire engulfed the inside of the store with flames, smoke and exploding fireworks within 48 seconds, according to fire officials.
The joint investigation of the state fire marshal‰??s office, the Winchester Fire Department and the Winchester Police Department determined a round from a 12-gauge shotgun had ignited the fireworks inside, according to a news release from the state agency on Dec. 14.
