Nitrogen tri-iodide detonates, not burns,.....
the shock wave shatters rather than propels, and usually fails to ignite anything.
Especially the teachers clothes when the they sat down on a capsule of the explosive..
Yes there was a bang! Followed by a loud scream! Purple cloud noted around the teachers desk.
Brown iodine spot outlining the blast on the clothing as they ran the door.
Fortunately the teacher was unhurt, and very embarrassed . Some thought it was funny until
both class before and after the incident had a month of after school detentions.
