Hello George,
There is always a risk of spark when unplugging from a power strip. This, in addition to corrosion of metal parts found in a receptacle, are the natural reasons power strips should be outside the hood chamber.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Electrical options for inside fume hoods
DCHAS group members,
Does anyone know of any power strips that are rated for use within chemical fume hoods? Typically the "standard" power strips are not recommended for such use.
Thank you in advance for any feedback you can provide.
Sincerely,
George
