Grandma probably raised Mom in a one parent home where she was out to work most of the time. So Mom wasn't too savvy about safety for starters and she had to be out working, too. If either Grandma or Mom had understood risk assessment, they wouldn't have been single parents.

So a significant portion of students are clueless. And clueless is combined with the invincibility syndrome, a typical mental aberration often accompanied by periods of acute stupidity which is seen even in kids who have been raised by two safety conscious parents.  Prepare to spoon-feed safety to them, Ernie.

Good grief! Safety training begins at home. Didn=E2=80=99t your mother teach you not to touch the hot stove - or to look both ways before crossing the street? Apparently not.
