Hi I work at Brookhaven National Lab in New York Don't know how many responses you have gotten already but here is my take. Changing out a fan is a major change in the system dynamics even when replacing in kind. I'm not sure from your question if you have multiple hoods manifolded with the one fan or single fans per hood. After checking the fan specs we would conduct a face velocity flow and smoke test at a minimum on all hoods. I assume you have specs for maintaining negative pressure in the room at all variations and check these. The ASHRAE 110 test is not ordinarily conducted at BNL but is being instituted for low flow hoods. All new hoods are tested as manufactured and some are tested with this measure as installed. I prefer a modified method that takes into account air currents and movement in the room. We have an issue with green house gas emissions as a federal facility and this places ASHRAE 110 (SF6) on a high visibility list. We are currently looking for alternatives but don't see one appearing on the horizon for a while yet.
