In my understanding (these things get confusing at times) ou r Facilities & Services group is responsible for everything up to the she ll of the building unless otherwise specified. They act as commercial le ssor and internal contractor (upon request) for the shell and anything inside th e shell – including chemical fume hood systems.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Fume Hood Maintenance & Repair
To all who are in Academic Research-< /span>
In this tight economy, universities are finding ways to reco up expenses.
How many of you have a Facilities department that supp
orts
& services fume hoods as part of the general infrastructure of the
laboratory? Meaning, they will service water supply, HVAC, sewer,
electricity, etc. and consider fume hoods part of the ventilation system.
Or-
Do any of you have a system in place where Facilities charge s individual departments for their Time & Materials, specifically f or fume hoods?
