Go here for the UC Davis campus standa rds and design guide: http:// ww2.ae.ucdavis.edu/csdg/ It’s quite extensive. It has a bit of quirky organization but if you surf around, you’ll find what you want. Section II, Desi gn Requirements includes general EH&S input with the specific construction divisions have EH&S input as well (fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, etc. ).
It’s been a slog to get a spot a t the table but it starts with personal relationships with architects and engineers. I was invited to my first design team round table with the design professionals and our campus architect/project manager about 7 years ago. When I arrived and was introduced as EH&S, a notable groan w ent up around the table. I had reviewed the plan set ahead of time and discovered an acid neutralization tank had been proposed. At the roun d table, my first item was to have them remove the neutralization tank, savin g the project about $100K. After that, I haven’t had too much tro uble getting invited. J
Good luck!
