Even one with a metal cap- soak for several hours until you see the yellowish color. Our institution also developed mechanical means, including a pneumatically- driven device which could remotely twist the cap off, and a non- sparking tool which could puncture the top, allowing hydrating the contents. But usually a gentle twist of the wrist did the trick. I am not suggesting you try something you are uncomfortable performing. In most cases I had a HAZMAT team notified, but not present, just in case. -Stefan Wawzyniecki, CIH, CHMM University of Connecticut
