Kim,
Our Systems group does design/build and I have this discussion with our
designers and engineers every time we look at a lab or other research
facility. Even though the technology exists that can leave the lights
on when someone is very still for longer periods of time (looking at
hundreds of slides, for example), I still recommend against using these
in the labs proper. Offices, store rooms, etc., in the buildings, yes,
but not in the labs. And I am NOT paranoid. Even though someone's
always watching me.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Subject: [DCHAS-L] occupancy sensors in labs
Anyone had any luck or issues with occupancy sensors for lighting in
laboratories? I'm looking at a set of laboratory drawings where the
design team has inserted them, but it's making my flesh crawl a little
thinking about the lights going off when someone's really still. Just
wondering if I'm being too paranoid.
