Dear CHAS Members: A water hammer (lecture demonstration device) broke this month when lowered, sending glass flying in my classroom. The water hammer is designed to make a loud noise when properly lowered; however this hazard, previously unknown to me, should require strict warnings for its use, or the substitution of something safer.
