Yung - What a timely issue to discuss! We're going through this same dilemma at my company. The cabinet in my analytical lab is vented and even from the top no less which probably isn't a good idea. This was done a number of years ago, but if we have to vent I'll have changed to bottom venting. The rest of the labs have recently purchased a number of cabinets, but to my knowledge none have been vented. Look forward to other comments. Thanks. Our local fire department seems to be against the idea as it may compromise the integrity of the cabinets. The design architects seem to agree with the fire dept. As a former lab worker, with a lot of lab and cabinet inspections to contend with, I am in favor of venting the cabinets to prevent odor from spills and or possible leaks of odoriferous compounds. Your opinion will be appreciated and the resulting comments posted for the list serve members. Thank you in advance for your help.
