============================================================ AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY Assistant Director, Division Advancement The American Chemical Society (ACS) is seeking an Assistant Director, Division Advancement for its Membership division. The incumbent will provide oversight leadership and direction for the activities and programs emerging from the Department of Division Advancement, which primarily exists to support and advance the mission of the 33 ACS technical divisions within the ACS, and as well as the Divisional Activities Committee. The incumbent will: ˇ Collaborates and builds commitment for strategic direction and planning for the Society's programs to advance the mission of the ACS technical and professional divisions. ˇ Manages all aspects of the Department of Division Advancement ˇ Supports the activities of the Divisional Activities Committee and interacts with and provides information to other governance groups and staff units ˇ Analyzes, understands, and manages complex internal and external environments. Communicates with internal staff, external members/volunteers ˇ Monitors constantly the external environment in which our divisions operate to provide the most advance notice possible with respect to emerging threats or opportunities. ˇ Provides counsel and support to task forces or other committees of governance QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have a college degree or equivalent experience; 10+ years of experience, Ph.D. in chemistry preferred; including managing a staff, developing and implementing strategic plans, budget creation and experience in writing project plans.
