I did not say this and I gave no such advice. Not even close. What I said was "It (Z-87.1) does not require the manufacturer to mark the device to distinguish the proper use." Big difference. The marking does not tell you which device is appropriate for which activity/hazard. It would be much more helpful if the ANSI Z-87.1 standard recommended the placement of the device letter from the selection chart after the Z-87.1 mark. I also noted "It does not require the manufacture to obtain independent third-part verification that the criteria of the standard had been met (as does the Z-358.1 standard for eyewash and safety shower)."
