Chemical Safety Issues for Radiation Work
Chemical handling is frequently part of work which uses ionizing
radiation. The radiation may alter the chemistry or cause physical
changes which modify the risks. This symposium addresses the chemical
safety issues that occur in conjunction with the radiation safety
issues.
Organizer: Carol Lentz Pfizer Global Resarch & Development

Chemical Safety Issues for Work with Biologicals
Chemical handling is frequently part of work with biological samples.
The hazards associated with the biological samples frequently are
given more attention than the chemicals that are used in handling the
samples. This symposium will address the chemical safety issues,
including, for example, fire prevention when using an alcohol flame
for sterilization.

Nanotechnology: Is Little Stuff such a Big Deal?
The emerging field of nanotechnology brings new hazards to the
laboratory and production floor. While these hazards are based on
the chemistry, they need to be understood and controlled. This
session will describe the hazards and innovative control methods used.
Organizer: Debbie Decker UC, Davis dmdecker**At_Symbol_Here**ucdavis.edu

PDA Use and Trends in Chemical Safety
PDAs and related small, wireless devices are becoming a common tool
for collecting, recording, and transmitting data and communications.
This symposium will explore new and innovative uses.
