Colleagues,
I am posting this as a member of the Committee on Chemical Safety and their representative on the ACS DEIR Roundtable. We were asked to promote the following information "far and wide" by Katie Hunt, past President of ACS (2007).
Nominations for the National Science Foundation Alan T. Waterman Award are open to recognize an individual for exceptional individual achievements in scientific or engineering research of sufficient quality, originality, innovation, and significant impact on the field to place them at the forefront of their peers. Especially welcome are nominations of candidates who in addition to the above criteria, also engage diverse and underrepresented communities and areas of research in effective and impactful ways. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must be 40 years of age or younger,
OR not more than 10 years beyond receipt of the Ph.D. degree, by December 31st of the year in which they are nominated.
The Alan T. Waterman NSF annual award is the nation's highest honor for early-career scientists and engineers. In addition to a medal, the awardee receives a grant of $1,000,000 over a five-year period for scientific research or advanced study in the mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, social or other sciences at an institution of their choice.
Nominations will be accepted until Sept. 16th, 2022. More information about the nominating process and eligibility of candidates may be found here:
