FOREST GROVE, Ore. ‰?? Emergency personnel with Forest Grove Fire and Rescue and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue have cleared the scene of an ammonia leak that occurred Sunday night, July 24, just after 9:30 p.m.

Firefighters stopped the leak after several hours, however, it took them about 35 hours to fully vent the ammonia out of the cold storage room.

Officials say that during the time it took to vent the noxious gas; fire, hazmat, and medical personnel remained on scene monitoring the air quality within the room at regular intervals.

Fire crews were on the scene to provide backup to the hazmat team and to decontaminate them after they exited the building.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - It‰??s one of the most unusual incidents authorities in Cape Girardeau County ever faced.

Late last month, an older man got a ride to a Cape County convenience store right off Interstate 55.

And, he had something inside one of his backpacks dangerous enough to cause a massive emergency response - one that shut the business down during one of the busiest weekends of the summer.

The whole ordeal shines a spotlight on something police departments and sheriff‰??s offices have done for years - helping travelers by crossing the line into neighboring counties to move them down the road.

‰??Our thing is to rush in and save the day.‰??

It‰??s a motto Fruitland Fire Chief Rob Francis has followed for more than three decades.

But, the strange incident that started back on June 24th stopped him in his tracks.

‰??I actually got a phone call from a former member of our district here that said I think we‰??ve got mercury at D Mart.‰??

July 26, 2022 (El Cajon) ‰?? Two El Cajon Police officers suffered fentanyl exposure and had to undergo a decontamination procedure today.
The officers responded to a call regarding a group of individuals known for chronic trespassing and drug activity in the 500 block of Front Street in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department‰??s post on its Facebook page.

‰??When units arrived, one of the twelve individuals attempted to discard a bag of powdered fentanyl from his pocket. As he pulled it from his pocket and threw it over his shoulder, the unsealed bag opened further, spreading the fentanyl all over himself and two of our officers,‰?? the ECPD page states.
.
Fentanyl is a highly dangerous drug, since a dose the size of a sand grain can be lethal, It poses hazards not only to users, but to first responders as well.

A report lists all the material released during a six-alarm fire last year at a northern Illinois chemical plant.

The Chemtool plant in Rockton is on the hook for the cleanup.

Monday‰??s report reveals that more than 15-million pounds of product burned in June 2021.

Rockton is just south of the Wisconsin state line and Beloit.

A majority of the material emitted was carbon dioxide, but water, smoke-particulate matter, carbon monoxide, and several other compounds were also released.

Chemtool‰??s parent company reported last year that air sampling showed no health risks to the surrounding community.
