While not preventive maintenance, our office does spore testing monthly and also spore tests whenever there is an interruption in steam or power that might affect autoclave performance. Spore testing is a good performance indicator and
can help identify units that need service.
I hope this helps,

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Autoclave preventative maintenance
Hello all,
I know this isn't really a chemical issue, but it is a safety issue!
I am interested in getting our autoclaves (which are getting older) inspected as part of a PM program.
Does anyone currently do this at their university?
Thank you!
Shannon
