Subject: [DCHAS-L] Restrictive Flow Orifice
After writing it on and off for 10 years, I just completed the article on the Development of the Restrictive Flow Orifice for a Cylinder Valve. Amazing to go back and relive 40 years of history. I believe it is important for all to know the decisions and basis for how we finalized the current design of this key safety item that was urgently needed due to the many serious silane fires and explosions in the 1970’s and 80’s. I am now working on a companion article The Development of an Electronic Specialty Cylinder Valve and Outlet Connection for the same reasons. This was parallel to the RFO development path. I continue to believe that we need to pass along our learnings so that history does not repeat itself.
