Hi Ralph,
Our school has a Digital Media and Design department, offering certificates in VR and AR (AR is more tempting and useful for us, as a tool to walk the students through using complex equipment). They didn't hesitate when I asked if this was feasible. I don't
know how common this equipment set-up is (or how expensive) but I can ask them if you'd like.
("This course is designed to work ONLY on the HTC Vive VR platform. A play area of at least 3 ft. x 3 ft. is recommended, but a larger 20 ft. x 20 ft. space would be ideal, to make the learning experience in this VR courses feel more authentic and real. This
VR course also requires a play area with 360=B0 tracking.")
I didn't want to put this on the chat, but I don't think there's a whole lot gained by having VR teach
this basic of a course, other than the wow factor. A checklist would be almost as effective. I found the VR fun but limiting.
The course begins with how to use VR, which is nice but time consuming. Then the course takes the student through donning and doffing PPE in the correct order (no PPE technique practice actually takes place, but it is mentioned). Lots of little how-to videos.
One of our student assistants finished the course and created a YouTube video of it. Here's the link but PLEASE don't share it, I don't want to get in trouble!

Thanks for these comments. What kind of hardware is necessary to use the VR aspects? Is it a common set of equipment to have available?
