Thanks Ralph and Rob for providing the threads from previous discussions on this topic.
They are very helpful as we develop a policy for the use, or non-use of earbuds and headphones.

-----Original Message----- What is the policy that various groups have on wearing earbuds / headphones in a Lab / chemical plant environment? I seem to recall that this was a topic of discussion in the past. We operate bench, pilot, and demonstration scale chemical plants at this site. We also have a number of analytical labs. Our evacuation procedures start with an audible alarm or page to evacuate / define the emergency. We have thought about allowing single earbuds only but are not sure if even this is acceptable. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe Joseph C. Peters, PE Where energies make tomorrow Follow us on Twitter **At_Symbol_Here**acsdchas ---
