JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ‰?? A crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 near Jacksonville International Airport slowed traffic on a rainy Sunday morning.
The crash, which happened around 10 a.m. on I-95 south, involved a jackknifed truck near Airport Road.
According to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, there was a diesel fuel leak that required the help of the hazmat team.
Two lanes were blocked after the crash and JFRD said to expect delays in both directions.
It‰??s unclear if there were any injuries.

A boiler fire at a chemical factory in Gurnee Saturday afternoon left one employee injured and prompted the response of nearly a dozen fire departments, officials said.
The Gurnee Fire Department responded at 1:31 p.m. Saturday to reports of a structure fire at Vantage, 3938 Porett Drive in Gurnee.
Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief David Douglass told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that there was a fire in the exhaust stacks of an oil boiler.
Firefighters arrived and found light smoke coming from the factory.
The fire was contained to the exhaust stacks and deck, Douglass said.
A worker who was attempting to extinguish the fire was treated by paramedics for exhaustion and released from the scene, Douglass said.
The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated to bring additional firefighters to the scene and to Gurnee‰??s two fire stations to cover any calls in the city.

SINGAPORE - An early morning fire at Shell's manufacturing site on Pulau Bukom on Friday (Sept 17) left four of the oil giant's emergency response team members with minor heat-related injuries.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post on Friday that it received a call at around 5.50am about the fire.
SCDF emergency vehicles were ferried to the southern island by barge from Pasir Panjang Ferry Terminal, and its firefighters joined Shell's emergency response team in fighting the fire, which involved a pump measuring 5m by 5m.
Shell's emergency response team had used foam jets around the fire to prevent it from spreading to nearby facilities.
SCDF further deployed foam jets and used large 50kg dry chemical powder extinguishers to put out the fire.
Four of Shell's emergency response team members were given first aid for minor heat-related injuries on their hands.

Lebanese authorities have seized 20 tons of ammonium nitrate ‰?? the same chemical behind a deadly explosion last year at Beirut's port ‰?? in the eastern Bekaa Valley, state media reported Saturday.
"Investigations have begun and the security forces are pursuing those involved to arrest them," the country's interior minister, Bassam Mawlawi, told reporters, without giving details about their identities.
On Aug. 4, 2020, the ignition of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate at the Port of Beirut caused an explosion that killed more than 217 people and injured more than 7,000 others as well as causing billions of dollars in property losses.
Mawlawi said he had issued instructions to conduct a comprehensive investigation for fear of the presence of other quantities of ammonium nitrate and to ensure the safety of citizens.
He noted that the seized ammonium nitrate will be transferred to a safer place away from any factors that may cause another disaster, in reference to the calamitous Beirut port explosion.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT CLOSES HIGHWAY 43 IN LAC ST. ANNE COUNTY

Emergency responders were on the scene of a fiery crash Friday morning involving hazardous materials affecting traffic on Highway 43 in Lac St. Anne County.
At 11:49 a.m. an emergency alert was issued stating that emergency responders were working to control the fuel oil product fire and vehicle traffic was being detoured around the emergency scene.
Fire, EMS and police attended the scene. The drivers, lone occupants of the vehicles, were taken to hospital by ground ambulance with unknown injuries.
While crews were on scene, Highway 43 traffic westbound was detoured to Highway 633 west to Highway 765 north to Highway 43. Eastbound traffic was detoured south to the service road at the Gunn ESSO to the highway intersection. Highway 33 traffic was detoured to a gravel road one mile north of Highway 43. Highway 37 traffic was detoured south to Highway 633 west to Highway 765 north to Highway 43.
At press time RCMP had not offered an update on whether the road had been reopened. All vehicles travelling in the area were advised to use alternate routes.

BARREL FULL OF ACID FOUND IN MIDDLE OF WEST CHICAGO ROADWAY: COPS

HANOVER PARK, IL ‰?? Fire crews found a barrel full of acid abandoned in an industrial park on the corner of Powis Road and Hawthorne Lane Thursday night, officials said. A hazardous materials team from the Hanover Park Fire Department was called to help identify the contents.
West Chicago Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Tim Leidig said fire crews were called to the intersection around 9 p.m. Thursday for an obstruction in the road. When they arrived, a 55-gallon drum was in the path.
A pungent oder from the barrel prompted fire teams to call a hazmat crew. Leidig told Patch a machine analyzed the liquid as some type of acid used in etching and cleaning concrete. The barrel had spilled slightly and crews were able to clean it up though traffic was blocked for several hours.
Police are currently investigating how the barrel got into the middle of the roadway.

ST. LOUIS ‰?? Fire crews responded to a hydrochloric acid spill at an aerospace company in Hazelwood Friday afternoon. The spill has been contained and there is no danger to the public.
The incident happened at GKN Aerospace on McDonnell Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. GKN is a British Aerospace company that works closely with Boeing.
The spill was mixed with water causing hydro fluorine gas to form. Aerospace workers were evacuated from the buildings. Decontamination stations were set up outside the site.
The spill was contained by north and west St. Louis County firefighters. Two firefighters who were injured were treated at a hospital and were released.

Chemical manufacturer Briar Chemicals Ltd. faces a å£1 million fine (about $1.3 million) after a worker died in an explosion at its facility in Norwich, England, according to a release issued Thursday by Great Britain‰??s occupational safety regulator, The Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
46-year-old maintenance contractor Rob Cranston was repairing a mixing vessel during a planned maintenance shutdown on July 27, 2018. Officials believe that flammable Toluene vapor was accidentally ignited by the man‰??s welding torch or a grinder. The harmful vapors are typically removed from the vessel before work commences. Cranston‰??s 22-year-old son Owen was working next to him when the fatal blast occurred.
‰??This was a complex and highly technical investigation, due to the chemical hazards on the site and the number of underlying issues which combined to cause the explosion,‰?? HSE Inspector Frances Bailey, the leader of the three-year investigation, said in a statement. ‰??HSE hope that this case helps to communicate important safety messages to wider industry so that other fires and explosions are prevented in the future.‰??
HSE investigators determined that a quantity of Toluene residue had been left inside the vessel after a shutdown cleaning that took place in June 2018. Two valves in a Toluene supply pipe above the vessel were damaged and leaking.

Days after an explosion rocked a Dunwoody apartment building, more than 400 tenants of the Arrive Perimeter complex were told to find a new place to live.
An email sent to residents Friday informed them they would have until Halloween to pack their belongings and move out.
One of the three buildings at the complex exploded and partially collapsed Sunday afternoon, injuring at least four people and displacing dozens more, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. The complex‰??s leasing office was also damaged in the blast.
Several residents complained of smelling gas in the hallways and parking garage for months leading up to Sunday‰??s explosion, and an Atlanta Gas Light technician was en route to investigate a complaint when the blast occurred.
Gas service was later shut off to the entire complex after officials discovered ‰??appliance and fuel line issues within the buildings‰?? during an initial inspection.

A woman who had to abandon her Dublin 4 home due to a toxic chemical spill at a neighbour‰??s property has claimed before the High Court that repair works are causing further damage to her house.
Last year, Sharon Keane and her two children had to move out of their family home at 22 Grand Canal Street, Dublin 4 following a spillage of a hazardous chemical called Xylene that was being stored on the property of her neighbours Thomas and Bronwyn Dunne.
At the High Court on Friday Ms Keane secured a temporary injunction from Mr Justice Max Barrett preventing building, remedial and construction works being carried out of the Dunnes property, at 20 Grand Canal Street.
The works are to cease pending an inspection and survey of the property by Ms Keane‰??s consulting engineers as to the extent of the excavations being carried by the defendants and their contractors, the court ordered.
The order was sought due to Ms Keane‰??s concerns that the works currently being conducted on the Dunne‰??s property is causing further damage to the plaintiff‰??s home.
Her counsel Gary McCarthy SC, instructed by Bunbury Darcy Solicitors, said that the strong fumes and odour that severely affected their health from the xylene spillage in September 2020 resulted in Ms Keane and her children having to leave their home.

Consumers in the European Union now have access to a database of toxic chemicals in commonly used products, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced Sept. 14. The new database contains information provided by about 6,000 companies, which are required to notify ECHA if they market products that contain ‰??substances of very high concern‰?? at concentrations of more than 0.1% by weight. Lead compounds, found in products such as batteries, automotive parts, and crystalware, are the most common substances in the database. ECHA received more than 4 million notifications, but it is unclear how many products are associated with them. In some cases, multiple companies submitted notifications for the same product; in other cases, companies submitted one notification for multiple products. The information is intended to help consumers make decisions about the products they purchase and to assist waste operators in safely reusing and recycling items. ‰??It will help to track prod!

Most of the world‰??s reserves of fossil fuels must remain untapped if the world is to restrain global warming to 1.5 å¡C over preindustrial levels by the end of the century, researchers from University College London conclude (Nature 2021, DOI: 10.1038/s41586-021-03821-8). When burned, these fuels release the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, contributing to human-caused climate change. The researchers used computer modeling to determine the amount of 2018 reserves that would need to be left in the ground to reach a 50% chance of meeting the 1.5 å¡C target called for in the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change. They calculate that 89% of coal, 58% of oil, and 59% of fossil methane reserves must remain in the ground by 2050 for the world to have a 50-50 chance of meeting this policy goal. According to their model, the majority of fossil fuels extracted after 2050 would be used as feedstocks in the petrochemical industry, with some oil going to the aviation sector for fuel.
