Kristi,

In the University of California system every PI with a lab must complete (generally once) a Laboratory Hazard Assessment Tool to identify the hazards in their labs. Then the software system automatically identifies minimum PPE and also training required for members of that lab. Thus, when any new researcher joins a specific lab group the campus Learning Management System automatically can provide the researcher with a list of required trainings. And EH&S issues the necessary PPE.

Obviously this integration of software tools took some time, so we also can license out the software through Risk & Safety Solutions. See:

Hi All,

I hope that you are all doing well and staying safe.  I'm curious what other folks at University's are doing to catch all of those at their institutions who are in need of lab safety or other training.  We have a mechanism whereby training managers for departments have to assign individuals to particular EH&S required trainings, and it seems like there has to be a less manual way of doing that.  Please feel free to contact me offline if you prefer and thanks in advance for any solutions you can offer.

All the best,

Kristi
