My colleague and friend, Alexi Ball-Jones, is decamping for points east. She writes me below about her position:

"My job just posted on the SJSU website. If you know someone who would be interested in working with the honest-to-god best place ever, please pass this on to them. This job will be impossible to replace for me, and I wouldn't ever leave if I wasn't leaving the state.

"The academic side is just thrilled to work on improving their safety culture (seriously!) and they love our EH&S group (also the truth!). People are genuinely happy here and express their gratitude freely. There's still a lot of program to build for someone wanting to make their mark, but I've left them a solid foundation.

"I'm happy to talk with any interested parties. I love these people enough to want to find someone good to replace me.
