The point I was trying to make is that anti-fouling polymers are not a viable tool against community disease spread, regardless of bacteria or virus.

OK for bacteria. but viruses can't replicate except in cells, so they just sit on the surface until they croak or until we spritz them with something that will dissolve
the lipoid capsule. Monona

You can incorporate anti-microbial elements such as copper and silver into a polymer matrix. These polymers are classified as anti-fouling and some are registered
with the EPA. Antifouling polymers keep organisms from growing on the coated object. However, their effect is more along the lines of keeping bacteria off your boat. There are teams working on the elusive self-disinfecting surface that we'd like to have had
back in January.
All of the companies that make this type of products have some sort of disclaimer. See the links below for examples.

Are you referring to "Microban" type products?

Hi Everyone,
Copying a question I saw in another group, does anyone have used antimicrobial-type tapes for highly touched areas?
Can you share your thoughts?
Thank you,
Alessandra
