GRANT COUNTY, Wis. ‰?? One lane in each direction of Highway 151 from County Road O to Airport Road is back open after a Tuesday morning crash.

Personnel are still at the scene, according to the Grant County Sheriff‰??s Office.

The Grant County Emergency Operations Center says the initial call came in just before 3:30 a.m. of a car fire, and while emergency crews were responding to that scene, a crash involving two semis occurred.

Investigators say a semi-truck carrying vegetables was approaching the scene and was slowing down when it was hit from behind by a second semi-truck carrying a tanker of corrosive material.

Officials say that crash caused the corrosive material to leak. Authorities say the material is not lethal, but will cause irritation if inhaled. They are working to clean the spill, which could take a couple of hours.

BRICKELL KEY, Fla. ‰?? A South Florida community is trying to be proactive in keeping people safe from the COVID-19 pandemic, but instead, residents are complaining that what's being done is toxic and causing more harm than good.

Brickell Key resident Priscilla Colon often takes waterfront walks, but recently she began to notice migraine headaches occurring; and then her dog, Astro, got sick.

Colon said since mid-March, people in hazmat suits have been driving around the community's open spaces in golf carts. They are spraying a chemical on the community's Baywalk that some photos show to be harming even the grass.

In an email obtained by Local 10 News, Brickell Key Master Association said they started a daily 5 a.m. sanitation program, using Virex Plus, which is being applied, they said, in according to the product's direction.

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) has sued the US EPA over its decision to roll back leak prevention and repair requirements for appliances that use hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

The petition for court review, filed in the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, relates to a March final rule, ‰??Protection of stratospheric ozone: Revisions to the refrigerant management program's extension to substitutes'. The rule reversed an Obama-era policy to extend the requirements that had previously applied only to refrigerants containing an ozone-depleting substance to substitute refrigerants, such as HFCs.

In March, the EPA said it was withdrawing them after it concluded "the 2016 rule's extension of the leak repair requirements to non-exempt substitute refrigerants exceeded the EPA's statutory authority under [the Clean Air Act] section 608."

The chemical factory that leaked gas into a coastal Indian city on Thursday morning, killing at least 12 people and putting hundreds in hospital, was operating illegally until at least the middle of 2019, documents show.

In an affidavit [pdf] filed by LG Polymers in May 2019, as part of its application to expand the plastic plant‰??s operations, the South Korean multinational admitted it was operating its polystyrene plant without the mandatory environmental clearance from the Indian government.

‰??As on this date our industry does not have a valid environmental clearance substantiating the produced quantity, issued by the competent authority, for continuing operations,‰?? the company said.

In the early hours of Thursday, toxic styrene fumes began leaking from the LG plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh state, as preparations were underway to restart production after a nationwide lockdown. The gas enveloped residents as they slept, causing people to collapse in the streets as they fled their homes. About 1,000 people were exposed to the gas, which causes neurological symptoms including headaches and nausea, as well as burning eyes. Twelve residents, including two children, died.

HELENA ‰?? Local fire chiefs say a weekend structure fire in the Helena Valley showed the importance of safety precautions, after one firefighter received minor burns.

On Sunday, the West Valley and Lewis and Clark County Volunteer Fire Departments responded to an outbuilding on fire. West Valley Chief Jerry Shepherd said the fire started in a chicken coop before spreading to the building, which was used as a shop.

Shepherd said, while firefighters were putting out hot spots, one kicked a large barrel, which turned out to be full of oil. The oil splashed onto the firefighter and caught fire.

‰??It just ignited,‰?? said Shepherd. ‰??Thank god it was just for a second.‰??

Lewis and Clark County Chief Wally Jester said he spoke to the firefighter Monday and found he received only minor burns.

‰??Because he was fully turned out, right down to the breathing apparatus ‰?? he‰??s in the hot zone, we require them to wear them ‰?? so he was protected,‰?? he said.
