Re: Chemist Hero - Dr. Harvey Wiley & The Poison Squad

Last evening I happened to be watching public television. There was an episode of American Experience entitled "The Poison Squad". It is the story of Dr. Harvey Wiley, government chemist. His work laid the basis for our food safety, and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. He also later developed the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. In my mind he was a real chemist hero. Worth watching if you get a chance. Shows what analytical work does to make us safe, especially when combined with a little toxicology.
