There are companies that recycle it. They recycle older fluorescent bulbs for the mercury but will take larger amounts. They will send you a container to put it in even. Our physics department had loads of the stuff and even a huge pool under the cabinets when we remodeled a few years ago that we dealt with. I don't have the info right now. Thank you. We have two hazardous waste vendors and neither accepts Mercury. I will contact the state.

This is concerning as we will be using a ICP-MS to measure mercury in this lab, so the manometer has got to go.

Companies that actually recycle mercury are not common. All sorts of companies exist that specialize in removing hazardous materials. They would bulk your manometer with other mercury waste and finally ship it to a recycler. You need to do a little research to see what is available in your area.

I inherited a lab with an old Mercury Manometer that contains metallic mercury. This manometer was going to thrown in the trash, but I demanded the contractors not do that.

Does anyone know of a Mercury Recycling or disposal firm that could take this?
