Sony Pictures Consumer Products announced on Monday, October 7, that it plans to open The Breaking Bad Experience, a themed space that will immerse guests in the beloved TV franchise in a myriad of ways. The eatery, which will be located in West Hollywood, is slated to open to the public on Wednesday, October 16. Tickets are currently on sale.
In addition to paying homage to the AMC drama, The Breaking Bad Experience will also celebrate the much-anticipated debut of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which premieres on Netflix on Monday, October 11.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. ‰?? Officials in Williamsburg are saying that 40 gallons of diesel fuel spilled out when a tanker was trying to replenish the supply for a 7-Eleven in Yorktown.
The spill happened around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning on George Washington Memorial Highway.
According to a battalion chief with the Williamsburg Fire Department, the fuel was stopped before entering any waterways, and no one was injured or had to be evacuated from the store.

QUEENSBURY ‰?? Warren County has purchased equipment for its firefighting apparatus at the county airport to stop the spread of a chemical that is suspected of causing health problems.
A foam used to fight aircraft fires contains fluorinated chemicals, which can include PFOA and PFOS, but the county airport staff has purchased a $30,000 piece of equipment that is being used to keep the chemicals from being discharged into the environment.
PFOA and PFOS have gotten scrutiny in recent years for their possible health effects on humans, including cancer and immune system problems. They are present in the foam that is used at airports to fight fires involving aviation fuel.
Airport staff members are required to test the equipment twice a year by spraying the foam. But Warren County Public Works Superintendent Kevin Hajos said airport management was apprised of the chemical concerns and instructed to take action to prevent discharging the foam during the tests.
Don DeGraw, the county‰??s airport manager, said the foam does not contain PFOA or PFOS, but the fluorinated chemicals in the foam can ‰??degrade‰?? to a substance that includes those chemicals when the foam is exposed to the environment.

When an old storage tank caught fire Monday (Oct. 7) at DDP Specialty Electronic Materials (formerly Dow Chemical), 500 Dow Industrial Drive, in Pevely, it produced a lot of flames and smoke, but the blaze wasn‰??t as bad as it looked, Dunklin Fire Chief Brad Williams said.
‰??We were dispatched about 3:30 p.m. to DDP,‰?? Williams said. ‰??They had a storage tank in the rear of the facility that had been decommissioned. They were cutting the tank apart and it ignited.
‰??It looked like a pretty good fire, but it was contained in the storage tank.‰??
He said no injuries were reported and firefighters put out the blaze in about 20 minutes.

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. - A bluish cloud spotted over the Lancaster County water plant on Riverside Road Monday morning led to a hazmat situation.
Emergency crews were called to the water plant off Highway 5 near the Catawba River. The road was shut down after reports of a chemical leak at the plant.
The utility company said that a very small amount of chlorine dioxide, which is used to disinfect drinking water, leaked and formed a fog.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control was contacted, but the chemical was shut off and the leak was contained.

Drums of "extremely toxic" chemical waste have been dumped in bushland near a popular Melbourne walking track, requiring complex and lengthy clean-up operations.
Authorities were first made aware of dumped chemicals on Wednesday morning last week when they found nine drums rolled down a gully just off Mount Dandenong Tourist Road near Upper Ferntree Gully.
The chemical drums were found near the 1000 Steps, the popular three-kilometre Kokoda Track memorial walk. Five of those drums were empty.
A Facebook post from the Upper Ferntree Gully CFA crew said it quickly became apparent when they found the drums that they were likely to contain "extremely toxic substances".

KLANG: A rubber glove factory‰??s decision to use an unsuitable storage rack proved costly when it broke and caused chemicals to spill in an incident at the Meru Industrial Park yesterday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Hafisham Mohd Noor said his department was alerted to the incident at about 6.30pm and deployed a fire engine from the Kapar Fire Station and a Shah Alam Hazardous Materials Unit (Hazmat) team to the scene.
‰??Upon arrival, we found that a three-storey industrial storage rack had collapsed, causing the chemical containers placed on each shelf to crush a storage barrel containing 1,500 litres of sodium hydroxide on the ground floor. The load caused the barrel to burst and spill the chemical.
‰??An inspection found that the rack was unsuitable for that purpose and the excess amount of chemicals stored on each shelf caused its failure to bear the load,‰?? he told reporters when met at the scene last night.

A Tacoma hazardous-waste facility has been hit with a $1.9 million state Department of Ecology fine for mismanagement and other problems that led to a 2018 fire.
The fine announced Monday against Stericycle-Tacoma is the fourth largest ever levied by the Ecology Department. It largely results from an investigation into a July 2018 fire ignited by tetrazole, a chemical used to inflate vehicle airbags that state officials said was improperly handled by the facility staff.
‰??People could have been injured or killed by Stericycle‰??s mismanagement of these dangerous materials,‰?? said Maia Bellon, Ecology‰??s director. ‰??They are required by law to meet strict permit conditions. This incident shows a complete disregard for the safety of their employees and nearby communities, and that‰??s totally unacceptable.‰??
Stericycle‰??s operation in Tacoma is the largest private hazardous-waste disposal facility in Washington, according to the Ecology Department.
