As one of those mid-career crossover folks my most useful resource
early on was our university industrial hygienist. I went to as many
workshops & meetings from various groups (including the ACS,
CSHEMA, and NSC) as I could, but much of my journey was self
taught.å I also had the opportunity to get an MS in OSH.
So:
Be self motivated (learning is so easy with the internet today)
Use local resources - ask lots of questions (in general, safety
people love to help especially when they see someone who wants to
learn)
Become involved with various organizations (CHAS was the most useful
for me)
Continue formal education

In reviewing the questions that have already been submitted for today's webinar, I noticed one that asks for suggestions for mid-career chemistry professionals to learn more about technical and/or regulatory aspects of chemical health and safety. This is a common question when we conduct an ACS webinar and I thought I would ask for suggestions from DCHAS-L as to what you have found to be the most valuable resources in this regard. I don't know if we'll be able to develop a complete answer to this before today's webinar, but we will have the opportunity to follow up with registered attendees, so I'd appreciate any suggestions that you have on this topic. Thanks for any help with this. - Ralph Ralph Stuart, CIH, CCHO membership**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org Membership chair American Chemical Society Division of Chemical Health and Safety --- For more information about the DCHAS-L e-mail list, contact the Divisional membership chair at membership**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org Follow us on Twitter **At_Symbol_Here**acsdchas

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do everything with nothing. Teresa Arnold paraphrased from Konstantin Josef Jire€?ek (1854 ‰?? 1918)
