There is an EH&S position open at the University of Arkansas.  Can you please share the following with the listserv?

 

The University of Arkansas Office of Environmental Health and Safety is now accepting applications for an Occupational Safety Coordinator. Duties include but not limited to:  responsible for the safety and regulatory compliance in the laboratories, shops, and studios. This position performs regular radiological (e.g., radioisotopes and LASERS) and biological compliance audits, documents audit findings, and follows up to ensure non-compliance items are corrected. The Occupational Safety Coordinator maintains biological and radiological equipment, performs radiation surveys and conducts fume hood evaluations; assists the Biological Safety Officer (BSO) and Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) with waste pickups and spill response as needed; supports the radiation safety program and assists RSO as required; and uses the EHS information management system to record findings and maintain records.  Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, biology, or a related field; plus two years of experience in occupational health and safety or a related field.  Valid drivers License.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  At least two years of experience in handling of biological or radioactive materials and working with University oversight committees

 

Working hours are Monday Thru Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm. Salary is $42,386
