The University of Arkansas is now accepting applications for an Emergency Response Coordinator. Duties include, but not limited to: This position conducts surveys of campus areas, such as classrooms, laboratories and/or patient care areas,
to determine compliance to occupational safety regulations and codes and performs appropriate program oversight (e.g., respiratory protection, fume hood certification). Formulates and directs campus exposure assessments, takes appropriate samples and or measurements,
and prepares for lab analysis. Develops plans for managing hazardous waste and conducting emergency response, trains institution employees, and implements hazardous waste management techniques, such as disposal and emergency procedures. Performs surveys of
construction sites to monitor compliance for safety standards and reviews construction plans. Directs health and safety education training programs and keeps abreast of current trends through professional publications. Maintains, monitors, and operates EHS
testing equipment used for monitoring and making safety inspections. Performs other duties as assigned.
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, biology, or a related field; plus two years of experience in occupational health and safety or a related field.. Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) response actions and performing associated exposure measurements.
Working hours are Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm. Starting salary is $30,713.
