A chemical spill near Manchester Township's industrial park ended up in a stream that leads to the Codorus Creek, county officials said.
....
The search ended when they found two large drums ‰?? each capable of holding between 275 and 300 gallons of liquid ‰?? on the property of Mistras Asset Protection Solution, he said. That business is located at 2 Interchange Place.

"We have no way to tell how much (liquid) was in them," he said, but guessed the drums were possibly half full.

Photographic solution: Santoemma said he was told the liquid is something called D-128 and is a photography developing solution that's not hazardous.

The tank was damaged when a food trailer overturned, Hillsborough firefighters said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY ‰?? State Road 60 was closed for about two hours Tuesday (March 19) while firefighters dealt with a propane gas leak, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

The propane leak began about 12:50 p.m. when a food van/trailer overturned on SR 60 just west of County Line Road. No one was seriously injured, but the trailer contained a 100-gallon tank of propane gas that was damaged in the rollover.

Hillsborough Fire‰??s Hazardous Incidents Team eliminated the danger by burning off the gas using a flare. The tank valve was damaged so HAZMAT team members also gassed the canister using a water fog to suppress vapors.

DEER PARK FIRE REIGNITES CRISIS OF CONFIDENCE IN TCEQ [OPINION]

Not again.

That was my first thought Sunday after a large fire at a petrochemical storage facility sent a thick plume of black smoke over Houston. It started less than 24 hours after a blaze at ExxonMobil‰??s Baytown refinery.

Sadly, this March madness is a never-ending story here. The Houston Chronicle in 2016 reported that the region has a chemical fire or explosion every six weeks on average.

I am sure someone will dismiss this as the unavoidable byproduct of being the nation‰??s petrochemical capital. That is simply not true. Chemical fires and explosions are largely preventable. So why do they continue to happen?

3 SICKENED AFTER STRONG ODOR REPORTED AT SAN JOSE POST OFFICE

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Three employees were inside the post office at Market and West Saint John Streets separating packages for about an hour when they began to feel nauseous. The three employees called 911 and reported smelling gas. Firefighters, PG&E and a hazmat crew rushed over.

Any reported gas leak is taken seriously, but because this is a post office and issues have happened in the past, this investigation was approached with extra caution. Firefighters didn't find anything.

"There's no obvious gas leak, there's no bust of gas mains or gas lines anywhere, it's just an odor so we're just trying to figure out whether the source is um if they had any recent work done um there doesn't appear to be any broken packages we've already checked all those," said San Jose Fire Captain Kevin Stidham.

The fire captain said once the employees got some fresh air their symptoms went away. He says the post office may have their own investigator come out later today.

PASIR GUDANG ‰?? At least 15 blue barrels believed to contain chemical waste were removed from the banks of Sungai Masai in Pasir Gudang on Monday (March 18) afternoon after a similar operation at Sungai Semilang earlier in the day.

Sungai Masai is the third illegal dumping site discovered since toxic fumes emitted by waste dumped into Sungai Kim Kim hospitalised more than 3,000 people and forced the closure of 111 schools on March 7.

Police and the Fire and Rescue Department‰??s hazardous material unit (Hazmat) were at the latest site, and personnel from a private environment firm were seen removing the barrels from about 2pm.

A 300m stretch at Kilometre 17 of the Pasir Gudang-Johor Baru Highway towards the state capital were closed, resulting in a traffic congestion until 7pm as authorities loaded the barrels into a lorry.

HOUSTON-AREA CHEMICAL FIRE EXPECTED TO BURN FOR DAYS

HOUSTON ‰?? A fire at a Houston-area petrochemical storage site continued to rage late on Monday and is expected to burn for up to two more days, officials said, sending thick black smoke into the air for miles around.

Firefighters were making progress seeking to contain the blaze at Intercontinental Terminals Co (ITC), with the number of giant storage tanks on fire reduced to six from seven earlier, said ITC spokeswoman Alice Richardson.

The blaze at a site along the Houston Ship Channel in Deer Park, Texas, began Sunday when a leak from a tank containing volatile naphtha ignited and spread to others in the same complex, the company said. The tanks hold tens of thousands of barrels of products used to boost gasoline octane, make solvents and plastics.

The blaze has not disrupted nearby refineries or shipping at the country's busiest petrochemical port, authorities said. The Houston Ship Channel is home to nine U.S. oil refineries that process 2.3 million barrels per day (bpd), or 12 percent of the national total.

Two people in Los Angeles were hurt when a 9,000 gallon tanker caught fire and exploded.
More than 72 firefighters worked for hours Sunday to get the fire under control.
Fire officials say the tanker had been leaking fuel when it somehow ignited.
Thick, dark smoke could be seen for miles.
Several fire departments arrived to help, including hazmat crews.
Some of the fuel entered storms drains, causing underground explosions and dislodging several manhole covers.
Fire damaged at least one building.
Two people in the area were sent to nearby hospitals.
No word on their condition, but one did have serious injuries.

The Birim Central Municipal Agric Directorate in collaboration with other stakeholders will soon embark on a vigorous inspection to eliminate all unlicensed agro-chemical dealers in the Municipality.

The exercise will also clamp-down on all agro-chemical sellers who flout the rules and regulations governing the sale of agro-chemicals in the operational area.

This was revealed by the Crop Officer of the Birim Central Municipal Agric Directorate, Mr. John Annorkwah, when reacting to a comment raised by a participant at a day‰??s training workshop for agro-chemical dealers at Akyem Oda, in the Eastern region.

The workshop organized by Green Innovation Centre (GIC), a German International Cooperation (GIZ), in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture which aimed at providing advice on safety precautions and proper storage of chemicals for dealers, attracted all agro-chemical retailers within the Birim Central Municipality.

Residents in Deer Park were urged to shelter in place for most of Sunday as a petrochemical fire raged at chemical storage facility in the city of 34,000.
The fire started around 10:30 a.m. and residents were advised to take shelter within a half hour as authorities then shut down State Highway 225 from Beltway 8 to Independence Parkway near the Intercontinental Terminals Company plant.
