Date: Mon, 4 Feb 2019 14:21:55 -0500

Dear Division Chairs,

Greetings! On behalf of the ACS Committee on Environmental Improvement (CEI), I am reaching out to ask for your help in amplifying a competition to your Division members. I ask that you consider sending the following information to your Division members in whatever method works with your division (email, newsletter, etc). I have also attached a flyer for your use.

If you have any questions, please let me know. On behalf of my colleagues on CEI, thank you for your help in amplifying this opportunity to your membership.

Best,
Chris Avery

The ACS Committee on Environmental Improvement, in collaboration with the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry, requests entries to the 2019 Environmental Film Competition at the 258th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego, CA. The purpose of the film competition is to give chemists an opportunity to use alternative ways to disseminate their work, or work that is of interest to them in formats that are understandable, appealing and impactful to the broader public.

We encourage chemists to collaborate with film makers to produce a short 9-12 minute films focused on the conference theme ‰??Chemistry & Water‰??. Submitted films must focus on an environmental topic and consider the following categories:
Water‰??s Impact on Land
Water‰??s Impact on People
Water‰??s Impact on Chemistry
Environmental Issues

The competition is now open for submissions! Submissions will be judged by an expert panel, and the top 10 films will be presented at the ACS National Meeting in San Diego in August 2019. For additional information, including competition rules and directions on how to submit entries, please visit the competition website:
https://ceifilm.wixsite.com/2019.

Questions related to the festival can be directed to Dr. Sherine Obare (Competition Chair; soobare**At_Symbol_Here**uncg.edu) and James Cobb (Competition Program Director; JamesA_Cobb**At_Symbol_Here**outlook.com). Entries are due April 30, 2019.
