Ryan, thank you for the reply - it's a different software system entirely. :)And James, thank you, I will check that out!--- For more information about the DCHAS-L e-mail list, contact the Divisional membership chair at membership**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org Follow us on Twitter **At_Symbol_Here**acsdchasOn Tue, Dec 18, 2018 at 12:46 PM James Wright <jhwright**At_Symbol_Here**uchicago.edu> wrote:--- For more information about the DCHAS-L e-mail list, contact the Divisional membership chair at membership**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org Follow us on Twitter **At_Symbol_Here**acsdchasHi Jennifer,
I'd look into Quartzy (https://www.quartzy.com/) for your situation. There is a barcode support and has active community. Best of all it is free. Good luck!

Subject: Re: [DCHAS-L] Bar code chemical inventory systems
Jennifer,
I do not believe so, but provided is a link to the software that our lab is going to be implementing: ChemInventory
I have yet to actually work with the software, as I am currently home on holiday; however, I'll begin coming more acquainted with the system when I return to work on January 3rd.
Best, and happy holidays.

Hello Ryan,
If this is the Flinn Chemventory system: have you been able to add chemicals to it that Flinn does not stock? I have run into a bit of frustration with the system when I try to get a label or add an item they don't recognize.
Thank you!
Jennifer.

Hey I can contribute something!
Just last week, my staff (cleanroom environment involved with nano-fabrication) got a presentation on ChemInventory. I'm unsure of the cost, but we appear to be adopting that system soon. The benefits are that system administrators can grant access with varying levels of user-ability (read-only mode, ability to make order requests, etc..) to anyone involved with chemicals you have, and the system even contains safety data for every chemical in your possession.

I know this topic has been discussed before, but things change very quickly so I thought I'd ask what current opinions are. We are a small state university with 5 full time faculty. Interest has been expressed in getting a scan/bar-code based inventory system. What do those of you in small schools think about them? Which current systems seem to work best? at what approximate cost? In other words, please pass on any info you have.
Thanks and have a Happy Holiday Season,
