As a compressed gas safety and ER consultant, one of the most common safety mistakes I find in Industry and Universities is the mistaken belief that Teflon tape is required for a seal on the cylinder connection threads. These are straight threads not tapered. Teflon tapes makes the connection worse. I have found this in over 90% of the Universities I have audited or trained

Hi All,

In response to Marta's request below, I would like to suggest the following, especially in light of recent classroom incidents. I would suggest including topics that would have high relevance for those who are entering the teaching profession at any level.

This is just a quick brain dump fueled by a grateful holiday full of family, friends, good food and beverage.  Hope yours was just as fulfilling.

Dear All:

I am collaborating with my colleagues from the Office of Undergraduate Programs and we would like to ask the community to help us to brainstorm safety topics that we should highlight in resources/ communications with the undergraduate students. We already know that we must make these communications engaging and accessible so we will be looking at different formats ( articles, infographics, short tidbits and so on). We would greatly appreciate you sharing with us your ideas.

Marta
