Police have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with an "explosive device" that went off in downtown Bremerton on Oct. 31.

Bremerton police arrested the man on suspicion of "malicious explosion of a substance" and reckless endangerment, according to a Kitsap County courthouse notice. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

At about 1:45 p.m. Oct. 31, Bremerton police were called to an alleyway between Fifth and Sixth streets after reports of an explosion. No one was injured.

Washington State Patrol's Bomb Squad and the FBI were assisting BPD with the investigation. Police said last week that the final determination of the type of explosive would be determined by a laboratory, but reported evidence was consistent with "low explosive powder."

Part of the device dented an unoccupied vehicle nearby; other parts of the device traveled more than 100 feet and landed on a sidewalk on Sixth Street. The explosion set off car alarms and appeared to leave a mark on the pavement. Police reported it also caused a two-inch by two-inch chip in a nearby wall.

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- A woman who was charging a Bird e-scooter said the scooter exploded in a Mesa apartment over the weekend.

People may have seen the popular rental scooters around the Valley, and Brittany Harb said she charges the scooters to make extra money to pay for college, and to pay for her upcoming wedding. Harb said she never thought her side job would end up like this.

Harb said the incident happened at around 7:00 a.m., and Mesa Fire officials said it happened on November 4th. The e-scooter can be seen, still smoldering, after he was brought outside of the apartment.

"There was a big bang," said Harb. "I thought something had just fallen over, so I didn't get up immediately. I did walk out about 10 minutes later, and walked out to a smoke-filled apartment."

A chemical blast occured in an Ambernath factory in Morivali, MIDC area, on November 5 at around 2pm. There were 13 workers in the factory who were rescued and there were no injuries. As per the Thane district disaster management cell, the fire took place at around 2pm. "There was a blast in the reactor of Persia chemical company," says the official on conditions of anonymity. "Eight fire brigade vehicles from Ambernath municipal council, Ulhasnagar and Kalyan Dombivli reached the spot and the fire has been brought under control," he added.

There were 13 workers inside the company who quickly rushed out and were saved. As the chemical company is near the railway track, train services were delayed in the afternoon. "There were many boilers and solvents inside the company so it took us time to bring the fire under control," says an official from KDMC (Kalyan Dombivli municipal corporation) fire brigade. "The cooling work is on and it will take us two to three hours more," he said.
