Hi Laurie,
Have you looked into Carolina Biological's Carosafe or Perfect Solutions? Our A&P labs use these products and have not reported any issues.

In our teaching lab, we have been using a formaldehyde/phenol/glycerin mixture as a preservative and wetting agent to maintain the cadavers. We would like to move to something less hazardous, and the lab manager is suggesting a 2-phenoxyethanol and propylene glycol mixture. Does anyone have experience with this replacement? Is it as effective as the formaldehyde/phenol? In my quick glance through the SDSs it looks like a better option, but are there other hazards that we should be aware of? I hope that we can scale back the need for our formaldehyde monitoring and respirator program by switching solutions.
