At least three people sustained serious injuries at the Soprema plant in France, France Info reported.
The factory personnel had extinguished the fire, which reportedly followed the blast, on their own before fire brigades arrived, according to the local prefecture.
All staffers were shortly evacuated, and a vast security zone was set up around the plant. According to television channel BFM, the incident occurred during a scheduled maintenance check at the storage facility of one of the chemical units earlier in the day. The plant, which manufactures a variety of sealing materials, is reportedly on the list of the most dangerous chemical factories.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Beaches remained closed in Burlington Wednesday and the problem has gotten worse. City officials say the treatment facility plant has become overwhelmed due to the amount of stormwater runoff.
The city says several beaches are closed due to E. coli contamination.
Saturday, Burlington's wastewater treatment plant released 700,000 gallons into Lake Champlain, which included stormwater runoff and sewage. A test showed the water was contaminated with E. coli at more than twice the limit.
Monday, there was another release of 1.1 million gallons of contaminated water into the lake. That amount of water would fill about two Olympic-sized swimming pools.

PAINT TRUCK CRASHES INTO POND

A paint truck crashed into a utility pole and ended up in a pond Wednesday morning at the entrance to the Hideout in Wayne County.
That crash happened just before 10 a.m. on Route 590 near Hamlin in Wayne County.
Crews are trying to clean up the paint and fuel that's been spilling into a pond at The Hideout.
The line painting truck ended up on its side in the spillover pond at the entrance to The Hideout along Route 590.
Troopers say the driver wasn't able to stop for a vehicle turning into this private community, sheared off a utility pole, and landed in the water.
Troopers say the driver got out safely. He'll be facing numerous citations after clipping a car and plowing into the pond.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas ‰?? Nearly 16 gallons of liquid methamphetamines hidden a fuel tank were confiscated Wednesday morning during a traffic stop on I-10, the Jefferson County Sheriff‰??s Office confirmed.
Deputies were on patrol at 2:04 a.m. when they witnessed a vehicle with an Idaho license plate make several traffic violations along I-10 eastbound, the sheriff‰??s office said. Officers reported the suspects ‰?? identified as Houston residents Ronald Bradford and Paula Bear ‰?? seemed overly nervous and their stories didn‰??t match up.
The officers asked for voluntary consent to search the vehicle but were denied, prompting deputies to call in a Port Neches police K-9 officer that later detected drugs in the vehicle. During the investigation, the vehicle‰??s fuel tank was removed. Deputies realized the tank had been altered and filled with methamphetamines as confirmed by a field test, investigators said.
Hazmat was called to the scene to safely collect the drug and the substance it was dissolved in.
Bradford, the driver, and Bear were taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

Iredell County officials say they have contained about 455 gallons of chlorine bleach that spilled near the intersection of Nixon Road and Shumaker Drive on Wednesday morning.
A truck operated by Water Guard Incorporated, based in Wilson, was carrying bleach with a 15 percent solution of chlorine when a stress crack in the tank allowed the chemical to spill around 8:45 a.m., according to Matt McAlpin, assistant fire chief for Ebenezer Volunteer Fire Department.
About 300 gallons had been pumped back out of the ground during cleanup, officials say, and a cleanup crew is expected to treat the ground to remove the rest.

MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) ‰?? A New Hampshire fire department says a high school student spilled chemicals in science class and was injured, leading to the evacuation of part of the school.
The incident happened before noon Wednesday at Merrimack High School. The student was mixing chemicals during the class. She suffered some burns. It wasn't immediately known what the chemicals were.
The student's injuries were treated by EMTs on the scene, and then she was taken to a Nashua hospital. There was no word on her condition.
The area has been cleared and students are back in school.

STEWARTVILLE, Minn. - A strange smell at Geotek Inc. in Stewartville resulted in a hazardous materials situation Wednesday afternoon.
Geotek is a fiberglass manufacturer, and according to their Vice President of Quality Safety, employees complained of a strange smell and itchy eyes just after the company's lunch hour.
Geotek then called the Stewartville Fire Department, who brought in the State Chemical Assessment team out of Rochester.
Five people were transported for evaluation as a precautionary measure.
Stewartville Fire Chief Vance Swisher tells KIMT that the facility was evacuated and tested using monitors, which tested positive for hydrogen cyanide.
However, given the chemicals at the facility, they believe that the monitors had a faulty alarm.
As of now, Swisher says the most likely cause is that the manufacturing line at Geotek had a failure of some kind, causing the chemical mixutre not to be consistent with what they normally run.

A broken chemical oil pipeline in a residential Long Beach street Wednesday morning resulted in temporary road closures and a response from the city‰??s fire and health departments.
Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel responded to the 2200 block of East Burnett Street in the city‰??s Wrigley neighborhood at 9:19AM. The hazardous material also required the response of the health department and a HazMat team. Police were also called to close down the street between Long Beach Boulevard and Locust Avenue.
Officials were able to mitigate the pipeline break when they identified the leak and were then able to ‰??plug it up‰??, said LBFD spokesman Brian Fisk.
The leak did not pose a hazard and no evacuations were made, Fisk added. Reports of an odor were made around the same time nearby the leak, according to the app Pulse Point, which he said could have been linked to the pipeline break.

EGLIN AFB ‰?? An internal Eglin Air Force Base report on the July 5, 2017, explosion and fire at the McKinley Climatic Laboratory places blame on ‰??direct welding flame contact with a flammable chemical,‰?? according to a spokesman for the Air Force Materiel Command.
The fire sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky. People within a 1,000-foot perimeter were ordered to ‰??shelter in place‰?? and turn off air-conditioning units that would have brought outside air into buildings. The order was lifted within a few hours. More than 50 people, including firefighters and first responders, were exposed to the smoke. Just one person was admitted to the base‰??s hospital for overnight observation, and was released the next day.
Last month, following the release of a Ground Accident Investigation Board report on the fire from the Air Force Materiel Command, Eglin‰??s public affairs officials referred all questions on the blaze to Materiel Command. The laboratory operates under the Materiel Command through Eglin‰??s 96th Test Wing.
Questions were subsequently emailed to the Materiel Command, and answers were provided by email earlier this week.

2 MEN CONNECTED IN ACID-BOMB STANDOFF TO FACE JUDGE

ORLANDO, Fla. -- On Wednesday, two men accused of setting off acid bombs inside a home near Baldwin Park are expected to face a judge.
Beach Boulevard was locked down for 12 hours during a standoff as hazmat crews and deputies tried to get one of the men behind the acid bombs to leave the home.
The acid bombs were homemade and are no bigger than a water bottle, but they can still cause a lot of damage, according to authorities.
Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Office were called out before 9:30 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing several loud explosions coming from inside a home at 4445 Beach Blvd.
When deputies got to the home they found two acid bombs, which deputies say could cause a lot of harm to people in the area near the home.

CHEMICAL SPILL REPORTED NEAR 46TH AND MLK

LUBBOCK, Texas - Lubbock Fire Rescue responded after 2:00 pm Tuesday to the report of a chemical spill near 46th Street and MLK.
Roughly 30 minutes into the incident, the LBK Alert system said: "Lubbock Fire Rescue currently has MLK Ave between 50th and 40th blocked. Please use alternative route."
LFR later provided an update, saying there was a call to the Cotey Chemical Corp. in the 4400 block of MLK.
LFR said a 330 gallon container of hydrochloric acid ruptured. Acid ran out of the business through the parking lot and onto the street. LFR said it poses no hazard to the public. This particular hydrochloric acid was described as a very strong form of what is used in swimming pools.
