ORLANDO, Fla. -- On Wednesday, two men accused of setting off acid bombs inside a home near Baldwin Park are expected to face a judge.

Beach Boulevard was locked down for 12 hours during a standoff as hazmat crews and deputies tried to get one of the men behind the acid bombs to leave the home.

The acid bombs were homemade and are no bigger than a water bottle, but they can still cause a lot of damage, according to authorities.

Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Office were called out before 9:30 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing several loud explosions coming from inside a home at 4445 Beach Blvd.

When deputies got to the home they found two acid bombs, which deputies say could cause a lot of harm to people in the area near the home.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Lubbock Fire Rescue responded after 2:00 pm Tuesday to the report of a chemical spill near 46th Street and MLK.

Roughly 30 minutes into the incident, the LBK Alert system said: "Lubbock Fire Rescue currently has MLK Ave between 50th and 40th blocked. Please use alternative route."

LFR later provided an update, saying there was a call to the Cotey Chemical Corp. in the 4400 block of MLK.

LFR said a 330 gallon container of hydrochloric acid ruptured. Acid ran out of the business through the parking lot and onto the street. LFR said it poses no hazard to the public. This particular hydrochloric acid was described as a very strong form of what is used in swimming pools.

A semi driver rolled her tanker over yesterday evening on I-65 at the 247.8 mile marker (this is near the Crown Point exit) after having a ‰??sneezing fit‰??, which closed the right lane for over eight hours. This is according to information from the Indiana State Police.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Zach Beaver revealed at approximately 6:20 p.m., yesterday, June 3, a 2012 Volvo semi pulling a tanker trailer, owned by Highway Transport out of Knoxville, Tennessee, and driven by Julie Duncan, 55 of Canton, Michigan was south bound on I-65 in the left lane in a construction zone.

Duncan stated she had a ‰??sneezing fit‰?? while trying to talk to Siri on her phone. She looked up and saw that she was going to hit construction barrels so swerved to avoid them. Duncan swerved sharply to the right and felt the load (cleaning solution) shift which caused her semi/tanker to roll over.

The cleaning solution had to be off-loaded into another tanker before the semi/tanker could be up-righted. The right lane was closed for approximately eight hours.

County Fire along with RCMP and a hazardous materials crew responded to the McRae Business Park after reports of hazmat leak.

The call came in just before 7 a.m. Monday morning about some white vapour in the area of 148 Avenue and 97 Street. Deputy Fire Chief Bart Johnson says some employees discovered the leak Monday morning.

‰??There were no injuries. There were a couple of people who noticed through some contact with their eyes, it had an impact on their eyes. To my knowledge, nobody was hospitalized.‰??

Johnson says hydrochloric acid can irritate the eyes as well as impact breathing and cause other health problems if a high exposure takes place. He says that is why they evacuated the area ‰??downwind.‰??

small amount of mercury was found in a Coronado garage that caught fire Monday afternoon and prompted officials to bring in a hazardous materials crew to clean up runoff in an alley, according to a fire official and a media report.

Crews responded to the fire around 2:30 p.m. to an alley between D and Orange avenues near Fourth Street.

According to NBC7San Diego, the fire burned a collection of at least 100 thermometers containing mercury that were being store in the garage.

Coronado Fire Capt. Brandon Ihde declined to specify what the hazardous material was, but he said the material was isolated to an external detached garage.

When firefighters put water on the fire, a little of the material got into the alley, he said. A hazmat crew isolated it and was working Monday evening to clean it up.

LUCKNOW: Three persons were dead and scores injured following a massive blast at a house being used as an illegal godown of firecrackers in a village under Kakori police station on Lucknow outskirts on Monday. While two adjacent buildings collapsed under the impact of the blast, another under-construction
structure came down crashing.

The blast occurred at around 11 am in the basement of a house where explosives and other material used in making the firecrackers were stored. While a police team rushed to spot to undertake a probe and ensure rescue and relief operations to extricate those trapped in the debris, ATS officials later joined the
police team, inspected the site to ascertain the reasons of the blast and the type of explosive.

As per the police sources, the explosives were of very high intensity but the ATS sleuths ruled out any terror angle. However, there was huge cloud of smoke which was billowing from the house in which
the blast occurred and it continued for many hours. While the two of three, who fell victim to blast, were identified as Ram Sharan (35), and Nasreen (18), the third one could not be identified as the body was burnt beyond recognition in

TEST REVEALS NEW FURNITURE BURNS HOTTER AND PRODUCES MORE SMOKE THAN OLDER FURNITURE

DENVER, Colorado ‰?? Firefighters say chemicals used to manufacturer furniture in today‰??s age burns hotter and produces enormous amounts of smoke, meaning you have less time to get out of your house, compared to furniture manufactured decades ago.

"In my 30-year firefighting experience, I have seen a tremendous increase in temperature on the fires we have fought and in the smoke that's generated," said Denver Fire Department Captain Greg Pixley.

The reason? Old furniture produced in the 1980s and earlier was made from wood and cotton. New furniture is made from plastics and man-made materials, which burn much more quickly.

CHENNAI: A fire broke out in the propulsion laboratory of the aerospace department in IIT-Madras on Tuesday morning, damaging expensive equipment. There was no casualty.
The fire broke out due to an electric short circuit in a junction box.
Security guards noticed the fire around 6.30am and informed the fire and rescue service department. Fire tenders from Guindy and Raj Bhavan reached the spot.
Fire and rescue services personnel battled for nearly an hour to put out the blaze. They prevented it from spreading to other labs.
Fire personnel said that the department had a cluster of labs. "We prevented the fire from spreading to other labs. It would have been a major tragedy if the fire had not been put out in time" said a fireman.

Fire and emergency personnel from several companies save a worker who was trapped in a chemical tank.

"He was conscious and alert when they brought him out of the tank and de-conned him," said Mark Willis, the Fire Chief for the Holloway Terrace Fire Company.

Willis says the victim was taken to Christiana Hospital for further treatment.

"It looks like we had a medical emergency," said Willis. "A gentleman who was inside a tractor-trailer tank washing it out--seems to be heat related," said

Willis would only say the worker at the Port Wilmington Tank Wash was dehydrated, and other injuries were not known.

ROTTING FISH ART EXPLODES, CAUSES FIRE IN LONDON GALLERY

Something was rotten in a London art gallery last week ‰?? an installation of sequin-embroidered decomposing fish sealed in clear plastic bags.

But before the exhibit even opened, the malodorous artwork unexpectedly combusted and set fire to the gallery.

The installation ‰?? a piece called "Majestic Splendor" by Lee Bul ‰?? was part of an exhibition of the Korean artist's work, scheduled to open at the Hayward Gallery on May 30. Then, hours before the show's first preview, the gassy art blew up, causing a fire that damaged part of the gallery, artnet News reported. [Top 10 Greatest Explosions Ever]

This week, scientists added human stem cells to chicken embryos, the brain in your butt is smarter than you think, and archaeologists in Pompeii found a man whose head got taken clean off.

Even though the exhibit was not yet open to the public, gallery officials had already decided to remove "Majestic Splendor" from the show for safety reasons. They had learned earlier that a chemical added to the fishes' bags to dampen their smell could become flammable after combining with gases released by the decomposing flesh, and art handlers were taking down the art as a precaution when it suddenly combusted and sparked a fire, a gallery spokesperson told frieze magazine.

ALBANY, NY ‰?? The U.S. Department of Labor‰??s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited New Windsor-based Verla International LTD, and proposed fines of $281,220 for failing to protect its employees from dangerous chemicals, and other hazards.

In November 2017, OSHA investigated the cosmetics manufacturer after an employee was fatally injured in a fire. The company was cited for 11 violations for fall, and compressed air hazards, and for failing to ensure proper electrical grounding and bonding to prevent flammable vapors from igniting; properly dispose of flammable materials; develop and implement an emergency response plan; provide employees with first responder awareness level training; and record a workplace fatality in its OSHA 300 illness and injury log.

‰??An employer‰??s adherence to safety and health standards, including the proper and safe transfer of flammable liquids, is critical to preventing fire, explosions, and other incidents that can seriously or fatally injure workers,‰?? said OSHA Albany Area Office Director Robert Garvey, who also noted that OSHA cited the company in 2013 for similar violations.

BILLINGS - On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, The United States obtained a guilty verdict in United States v. Woody‰??s Trucking, LLC and Donald E. Wood, Jr. after an 8 day jury trial in Billings, Montana before the Honorable Susan P. Watters. Both Defendants were charged with conspiracy, wire fraud, mail fraud, placarding violations and obstruction of justice stemming from an explosion at an oil and gas processing facility in Wibaux, Montana. The defendants were convicted of 13 of 14 counts. The one count of acquittal related to one of the placarding violations. Forfeiture in the case amounts to $644,689.70.

On December 29, 2012, a driver for Woody's Trucking, loaded natural gas condensate, or "drip gas," from a pipeline station that transports products from the Bakken oil fields in Montana and North Dakota. The drip gas was hauled from Watford City, North Dakota, to Custom Carbon Processing, Inc. (CCP). CCP is a slop-oil processing/recycling company based near Wibaux, Montana. The bill of lading that accompanied the shipment identified the product as "slop oil and water," which is a non-hazardous substance. However, while the driver was pumping from the truck‰??s front tank into the CCP facility, a fire ignited, injuring three employees. The tanks on the truck burned for eight days until the local fire department could determine that they held drip gas and not slop oil and water, as indicated on the bill of lading. Drip gas is a hazardous material and the truck was not placarded to indicate it held a flammable liquid. Three employees were seriously injured in the explosion.
