Manager, Laboratory Safety/Chemical Hygiene Officer
Within the Department of Environmental Safety, Sustainability & Risk's Office of Research Safety, the Manager, Laboratory Safety plans, directs and manages the laboratory safety staffing, services, equipment, training and budget of the Laboratory Safety Program. The position responsibilities include developing, implementing and overseeing a comprehensive laboratory safety program for chemical use and physical hazards in the laboratories, conducting risk assessments, recommending controls, and promoting a generative safety culture within the campus research community. Working with faculty, students and staff at all levels, this position supports the overarching university research safety commitments and campus safety committees.
This position works in conjunction with other Environmental Safety, Sustainability & Risk and Office of Research Safety staff to integrate all technical program services within a consistent "research safety" framework.
=E2=80=8BCandidates must have a bachelors degree and 10 years progressive experience in health and safety, including 5 of those years implementing safety programs within a research environment and 3 years managing a staff.

Senior Laboratory Safety Industrial Hygienist
This senior level Laboratory Safety Industrial Hygienist position supports the goal of providing the UMD research community with the guidance and tools they need to manage safety in their laboratories. The Senior Laboratory Safety Industrial Hygienist will provide a high level of technical support to researchers and will assist the Laboratory Safety Manager in identifying gaps in the current research safety program and developing programs to narrow those gaps.
Candidates must have a Bachelors degree and 5 years experience in health and safety or a Masters degree and 3 years experience in health and safety.
