LSI is seeking candidates for the Laboratory Chemical Safety Specialist position with a research organization in Doha, Qatar. This is a three to four year assignment with generous compensation, housing, transportation, and travel benefits.

The responsibilities include:

=EF=82=B7 Convey Safety & Health Program expectations to facility personnel and users.

=EF=82=B7 Verify subcontractors conducting activities, including providing items and services that affect or may affect safety & health, conduct work in accordance with organization's safety & health procedures/processes.

=EF=82=B7 Provide a working interface and line of communication with other organizations and projects for Safety & Health matters.

=EF=82=B7 Participate in regular site inspections to check safety & health policies and procedures are being properly implemented. Identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement, record observations in an issues management process for corrective action and continuous improvement.

=EF=82=B7 Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety systems and procedures, and identify, recommend, and implement corrective actions.

=EF=82=B7 Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk reduction strategies.

=EF=82=B7 Taking appropriate action to mitigate the likelihood and impact of health and safety risks.

=EF=82=B7 Investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and taking necessary steps to prevent recurrence.

=EF=82=B7 Maintain training and qualifications.

=EF=82=B7 Prepare Safety & Health performance documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information.

=EF=82=B7 Supporting facility users and researchers in a range of specialized health areas, e.g., occupational exposure, ergonomics, noise and occupational diseases.

=EF=82=B7 Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.

=EF=82=B7 Coordinating with Environmental Programs for the safe disposal of hazardous substances.

=EF=82=B7 Performing additional duties and tasks as assigned.
