This is a valuable initiative.

Here are some of the things LSI's doing.

Reaching out to schools and encouraging all of our course participants to do it on their own or as LSI Ambassador has been one of our major themes for over 40 years.

Providing free copies of and links to the critical ACS and others publications

Supporting and encouraging these outreach efforts with resource materials.

Donating copies of our K-12 model chemical hygiene plan.

Offering free Q&A sessions and other webinars for K-12 schools. The next one if for the Wyoming DOE and their state's science teachers on the lab standard.

Inviting all state science supervisors and science teacher association presidents as our guests for any of our courses.

Giving away over six million copies of our "Laboratory Safety Guidelines" (in 20 languages).

Creating a scholarship fund to allow secondary science teachers to attend LSI's ACS national meetings courses for free.

I would be happy to talk with any K-12 school that DCHAS-L readers feel might benefit from these opportunities and/or assist and support anyone with their outreach efforts.

Best wishes ... Jim .

The discussion on safety in high school science classes
presents an opportunity for every CHAS member. This
opportunity is particularly relevant if you have children
(or grandchildren) in K-12 schooling. Reach out to your
local school or school district and to the PTA. Provide
officials and teachers with copies of 2 documents you can
