DCHAS members may be interested in the presentation files from last week's DCHS symposia at SERMACS. The Division co-sponsored two very interesting and well-attended events:

1. A symposium on "Learning Laboratory Safety Through Storytelling" had 6 presentations from the DCHAS leadership discussing both Lessons Learned from personal events plus considerations in developing such stories for the 21st Century's mediascape.

2. A workshop on Improving Chemical Safety in School Workshop presented by Sammye Sigmann. Topics addressed in the workshop include:
‰?¢ Conceptual overview of teacher liability relative to lab safety
‰?¢ The ins and outs of the Globally Harmonized System and Safety Data Sheets
‰?¢ Risk Assessment models for common teaching demonstrations
‰?¢ Evaluation of on line videos demonstrating chemistry
PDF versions of her materials for this workshop are linked to from

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
