Subject: [DCHAS-L] Call to Action: Advancing Graduate Education in the Chemical Sciences
I gave a presentation yesterday in the a symposium discussing the report below. Another avenue ACS is pursuing to better understand how graduate education might evolve in the 21st Century is the survey described below. The ACS is interested in feedback from all stakeholders on this topic and I encourage everyone to take 10 minutes or so to help prioritize the recommendations of the report. Yes, safety education is included as a potential action item on this list.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.

As you know, the 2012 ACS study "Advancing Graduate Education in the Chemical Sciences" presented five major conclusions and approximately thirty recommendations. I am writing to ask for your help in prioritizing the recommendations by completing the anonymous survey at http://chemistry.graduate.education (by clicking the button "Complete the Survey" at the bottom of the page). The survey is estimated to take 10-15 minutes to complete.
The results of this first "Call to Action" will be available at the same website beginning January 15, 2018.
Consulting the larger community of stakeholders is an important next step in implementing the recommendations of the 2012 ACS study on the future of graduate education in the chemical sciences. Feel free to pass this request along to colleagues who might give us further insight. Thank you for your assistance.
With regards,
Michael
